Vietnam National Reinsurance Corporation (VINARE) is a National Disaster Risk Finance (DRF) consultant for Swiss Re in a project which helps two cities of Vietnam (Hue and Can Tho) to deal with total climate change. This is an Asian Development Bank (ADB) project with very high competent consultant team: i) AIR worldwide is on modeling development size and ii) Swiss Re consults in Disaster Risk Financing solutions (among which insurance/ reinsurance plays an important role).

The Vietnamese counter party in this project is Urban Planning Department (Ministry of Construction) – called “Implementation Agency”. 

In the framework of this project, on 15 and 16 April 2014 in Can Tho, the 1^st training workshop – Phase 2: “Disaster Risk Finance for Total Climate Risk” was organized with the participation of more than 30 delegates from government entities including People’s Committee, urban planning departments, etc.
