VINARE 1H2026 Business Performance Review Conference

10 - 08 -2026

In the afternoon of August 3, 2026, Vietnam National Reinsurance Corporation (VINARE) held its Mid-Year Conference to review its business performance for the first half of 2026 and discuss key business priorities for the remainder of the year. The Conference was chaired by Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Chairman of the Board of Directors, with the participation of Mr. Vu Ngoc Vuong, Head of the Board of Control and Mr. Mai Xuan Dzung, Chief Executive Officer, together with members of the Board of Directors, the Board of Control, the Board of Management, and employees of VINARE.

During the first six months of 2026, Vietnam’s economy recorded several positive developments. GDP grew by 8.18%, marking the highest first-half growth rate during the 2022 – 2026 period. The expansion of public investment, foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows and trade activities has created favorable conditions for insurance and reinsurance demand, particularly across the industrial, construction and infrastructure sectors.

According to the Insurance Association of Vietnam (IAV), the non-life insurance market grew by 16.1% in the first half of 2026, compared with growth rates of 11.3% in 2025 and 11.9% in 2024. Property & Engineering insurance continued to perform strongly, with Engineering insurance emerging as the fastest-growing segment, recording a growth rate of 75.3%. Notably, compulsory insurance for construction projects surged by 185.4%. This growth reflected the recovery in public investment, construction and manufacturing activities, together with the positive impact of recently amended legal regulations relating to property and engineering insurance.

VINARE reported strong business performance in the first half of 2026. Revenue reached VND2,364 billion, up 10.4% year-on-year and representing 55.4% of the 2026 annual target. Profit before tax amounted to VND278.8 billion, an increase of 14.9% compared with the first half of 2025, fulfilling 49.8% of the 2026 business plan.

With respect to its international inward reinsurance business, VINARE has actively sought opportunities to expand its presence in overseas markets and strengthen relationships with international brokers and reinsurers. However, competition in the global market has become increasingly intense, particularly with respect to financial strength and credit rating requirements, posing significant challenges to VINARE’s efforts to expand its international market share.

Investment activities continued to deliver strong results despite ongoing volatility in the financial markets. Total income from investment activities and other operations reached VND271 billion, representing an increase of 19.2% year-on-year. The investment portfolio generated an annualized return on investment (ROI) of 9.01%.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Mai Xuan Dzung, Chief Executive Officer of VINARE, acknowledged the efforts and dedication of all employees in navigating a challenging market environment. He also called for continued unity and collaboration across the entity to drive VINARE’s future success. He noted that, amid rapid technological advancement and the growth of the knowledge economy, VINARE must continue to uphold its pioneering spirit, innovation and creativity in order to maintain its leading market position. Although market conditions are expected to remain volatile, Mr. Tuan expressed confidence that, leveraging VINARE’s key strengths, including its established brand, solid financial capacity, extensive industry experience and long-standing network of domestic and international partners, the Corporation will strive to achieve its 2026 business objectives while laying the groundwork for the development and execution of its 2027 business plan.
